The problem of increasing the track between Kalyan-Badlapur is over

Ulhasnagar: The bottleneck of laying two more tracks between Kalyan to Badlapur has been removed. For the expansion of the new corridor, the Railways needed the land of the Forest Department, the approval of which has been received. Railways prepared the Mumbai Urban Transport Project for the expansion of local trains. There are many projects in this, out of which there is also a plan to lay two more tracks between Kalyan-Badlapur. Further, Kalyan, the population has also increased, so there is a demand to increase trains. At present, there are only two tracks ahead of Kalyan. Local, long-distance trains and goods trains run on these tracks. If the corridor is expanded or the capacity is doubled, there will be an option to run more local trains in the future.

The speed of trains passing through this corridor will also increase as long-distance trains and goods trains can be diverted due to having four tracks. Apart from trains operating from Mumbai, this route also provides connectivity to trains going to and from South India. In such a situation, making two more tracks is the need of the hour.

The project was approved in March 2019, but no work could be done due to Corona. When the effect of Corona subsided and work started again, Mumbai Rail Vikas Nigam was not getting funds from the government. 0.252-hectare land was also to be received from the Forest Department, for which we had to wait a long time.

The process of land acquisition was started by Mumbai Rail Vikas Nigam in December 2021. A total of 13.6 hectares of land is needed for this route. There is also the land of ten villages in these, for which a request has been made to the Collector. So far Rs 134.64 crore has been given for the land. 49 new bridges are to be built in this project, out of which 44 have been approved. The approval of the Commissioner of Railway Safety has also been received to start the work of 25 bridges. Tenders will be issued soon for other bridges.

For this route, a preliminary survey has been done by drone mapping method, and after that engineering survey has been done. The alignment of the proposed line has also been finalized. A general arrangement drawing has been prepared for Vithalwadi, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath, and Badlapur stations. Similarly, the design of 5 bridges is also ready, out of which four have been approved by the Central Railway.

In this Rs 1510 crore Kalyan-Badlapur 3rd-4th line, 15 km double line track, 49 bridges, 1 big bridge in 15 km route and 04 rail over bridges.
